Center Marks 40 Years
The Carbon County Environmental Education Center is planning a day-long celebration to mark its 40th anniversary.
The event is set for Saturday, October 11, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and will include free hikes, crafts, nature meditation, and “behind-the-scenes” tours of raptor and wildlife rehabilitation areas.
A food vendor will be on site for refreshments, and staff will offer welcoming remarks at 1:00 pm. A full schedule is available on the center’s website at www.carboneec.org.
Since 1985, CCEEC has offered environmental education programming for all ages, and provided wildlife rehabilitation services to area residents. The center’s boardwalk trail for raptor viewing is a popular local attraction.
The center is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, just outside Jim Thorpe, along the Lentz Trail highway. Grounds are open free of charge during all daylight hours.
All are welcome to the celebratory event. No registration is required.
