A Generation Looking for Fathers…

As Father’s Day approaches, 18.2 million children in America are grappling with their father’s absence instead of celebrating his presence. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that one in every four children in the United States lives without a biological, step, or adoptive father in the home.

Throughout the Bible, God instructs His people to care for the fatherless. James 1:27 says, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

“That verse tells us that every Christian has the opportunity to address the number one social issue in our country, which is fatherlessness,” said Sean Teis, minister and founder of Life Factors Fatherless Ministry.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, God’s people have an opportunity to remember and serve the fatherless. However, many churches and individuals do not know where to start. Teis offers advice and resources for those who feel ill-equipped or uncertain about how to love the fatherless children, single moms, grandparents raising grandkids, and others affected by absent fathers in their communities.
