SUMMARY:Zion's UCC "Liberty Bell" Church - Annual reading of the Declaration of Independence
DESCRIPTION:The annual reading of the Declaration of Independence in Allentown\, held at historic Zion’s “Liberty Bell” UCC on Sunday July 1st at the 10:45 am service of worship\, features some two dozen volunteer participants who reenact the protests of the Colonists by reading sections of the Declaration\, punctuated by the ringing of “Allentown’s Liberty Bell.” Allentown’s bell\, which originally hung in the church tower and tolled to gather people for the reading of the Declaration on July 8\, 1776\, is rung during the ceremony. This bell is the model for the bell dropped on New Year’s Eve at Center Square\, and it was seen throughout the city during Allentown’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Zion’s church is located at 620 W Hamilton Street in downtown Allentown. The public is invited. DESCRIPTION:Coming up at Nockamixon State Park this summer\, summer camps for all ages! Junior Ranger Summer Camp Series is designed to help youth ages 5 to 19\, learn about the natural world through exploration. The series is broken into age categories and program length\, topic and cosy vary by age group.The goal of these camps is to allow youth to experience nature hands-on with others of the same age while nurturing a deeper connection to themselves and nature. Participants receive a shirt and certificate when program requirements are achieved. Costs: The camps are free of charge\, but a specific donation amount to cover costs of the camp is requested. All donations will go directly to the Friends of Nockamixon State Park to fund the camp\, as well as volunteer projects and efforts to improve our park and grow our education programs. Checks should be made out to “PPFF” with “FONSP” in the subject line. Please wait until your spot is confirmed to send the donation. \n Trailblazers Camp (Ages 17-19) July 16th to 20th (9 am to 3 pm) $50  Adventurers Camp (Ages 13-16) July 9th to 12th (9 am to 3 pm) $50  Explorers Camp (Ages 8 – 12) July 23rd to 25th (9 am to Noon) $25  Little Sprouts Camp (Ages 5-7) July 23rd to 25th (1 pm to 3 pm) **Enrollment is limited and pre-registration is required! SUMMARY:Annual Backpack Distribution - The Salvation Army\, Lehigh Valley
DESCRIPTION:The Salvation Army\, Lehigh Valley will hold it’s 2018 Backpack Distribution Event in Allentown from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on August 23rd at the 144 N 8th Street\, Allentown\, PA 18101. Over 500 children attended with a parent last yaer and received school supplies. We anticipate at least as many participant’s during this year’s event. We will be joined by the LV Phantoms Street Team who will be using the parking lot to play hockey with the kids. Members of the National Guard will also be on hand to show the kids rock climbing. UPMC will also be present as a community partner. DESCRIPTION:Hunters will again have the opportunity to enjoy the September Canada Goose season at the park. The season begins Saturday\, September 1st and continues through Tuesday\, September 25\, 2018. Areas of the park normally open to hunting are open for the September Canada Goose season. Hunting maps are available at the park office at: 1542 Mountain View Drive\, Quakertown\, PA. Pennsylvania Game Commission rules and regulations apply. Shooting hours are one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. The September season allows a daily bag limit of eight Canada Geese\, with a possession limit of 24.
