SUMMARY:This Week on "A New Beginning" With Greg Laurie at 4:00 pm Monday to Friday on WJCS 89.3 FM
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, January 9\, 2023 \nThis is Not a Drill! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPastor Greg Laurie says God isn’t content getting the leftovers from our lives. Monday on A NEW BEGINNING\, Pastor Greg points out how we need to give the Lord our best: our time\, our talent\, our treasures. Tune in for strong encouragement\, Monday at 4:00 PM. A NEW BEGINNING on WJCS 89.3 FM.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, January 10\, 2023 \nThis is Not a Drill! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRunners don’t win a prize for how fast they leave the starting block. And similarly\, when we run “for the prize of the high calling\,” it’s all about how we finish. Tuesday on A NEW BEGINNING\, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us learn how to finish well as he presents his final study in Nehemiah. Tune in Tuesday at 4:00 PM on WJCS 89.3 FM.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, January 11\, 2023 \nThe Race We Must Win \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Apostle Paul compared the Christian life to running a race. And Pastor Greg Laurie points out this is a race “we must win.” Wednesday on A NEW BEGINNING\, tune in for practical counsel on laying aside those things that may slow us down. That’s A NEW BEGINNING with Pastor Greg Laurie\, Wednesday at 4:00 PM on WJCS 89.3 FM.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday\, January 12\, 2023 \nThe Race We Must Win \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach of us has regrets . . . things we’ve said\, things we’ve done. But Pastor Greg Laurie shows us how we can rebound and be restored from the failings of the past. Thursday on A NEW BEGINNING\, we’ll learn how to keep pressing forward in our race for Christ. Tune in Thursday at 4:00 PM on WJCS 89.3 FM.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, January 13\, 2023 \nThis Is Not a Drill! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn important warning coming Friday on A NEW BEGINNING. Pastor Greg Laurie points out the tactics and strategies of our adversary. It’s timely information for all of us who are running our race for Christ. Tune in for Pastor Greg’s message “The Race We Must Win\,” Friday at 4:00 PM. SUMMARY:The Moravian Historical Society Invites You to: New Exhibition Opening: A Trio of America’s First Stringed Instruments
DESCRIPTION:Nazareth\, PA—The Moravian Historical Society is pleased to announce the opening of a special exhibition\, Heartstrings\, John Antes: America’s First Luthier. The public is invited to attend the opening reception for the exhibition on Sunday\, February 5\, 2023 from 1 p.m–3 p.m.\n\nJoin us for a special exhibition of three American firsts—a violin (1759)\, cello (1763)\, and viola (1764)—all made by the Pennsylvania-born John Antes (1740-1811). Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating life of John Antes and discover how the trio of Antes instruments came to be reunited. The exhibition will explore how stringed instruments are made and the legacy of luthiery in the Lehigh Valley from Antes to C.F. Martin. Visitors can also hear recordings of chamber music composed by John Antes while viewing the trio.\n\nAs a luthier\, John Antes made seven instruments\, only two of which were thought to still exist—the Moravian Historical Society’s 1759 violin and the Lititz Historical Society’s 1764 viola. The Antes 1763 cello was recently discovered in an attic outside of Pittsburgh and bought at auction in 2018 by Thomas Riddle\, a descendent of Antes. Now reunited for this special exhibition\, the trio represents the oldest surviving American violin family instruments.\n\nThis exhibition is supported\, in part\, by the Riddle Family\, descendants of the Antes Family; the Martin Guitar Charitable Foundation; and the County of Northampton Hotel Tax Grant Program.\n\nThe museum is open daily from 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. except major holidays. The exhibition will be on view from February 3 through October 29\, 2023.\n\nFounded in 1857\, the Moravian Historical Society (MHS) preserves\, interprets\, and celebrates the rich culture of the Moravians. Located in Nazareth\, Pennsylvania\, MHS maintains the 1740–1743 Whitefield House and the 1740 Gray Cottage\, the oldest surviving Moravian structure in North America. Recognized widely for its significant collection\, the museum is home to a permanent exhibition on Moravian history including historic keyboard and brass instruments.

In keeping with the spirit of “Next Generation”\, the CCA also offers scholarships to promising young students of the Celtic Arts. These yearly scholarships are\noffered to students of the arts\, including Irish Step Dance\, Highland Dance\, Fiddle\, and Bagpipes. The Celtic Classic has blossomed into one of the largest Highland Games and Celtic Festivals in North America. Annually\, over 200\,000 visitors come to Historic Bethlehem to join in this celebration of all things Celtic. The organization has expanded into year-round programs. Our educational programming has expanded to include\ncommunity outreach events in area school districts\, religious institutions\, local theaters and colleges throughout the Lehigh Valley. SUMMARY:"What We Need to Know About Prayer" This Week on Haven Today With Charles Morris at 10:00 PM M-F

The concert will begin at 2:00 p.m.\n\nSATORI will perform chamber music for flute\, violin\, and cello\, including compositions by John Antes. Antes’ compositions are the earliest known chamber works composed by an American.\n\nGuests will also have the opportunity to view the special exhibition\, Heartstrings\, John Antes: America’s First Luthier. This exhibition brings together three American firsts—a violin (1759)\, cello (1763)\, and viola (1764)—all made by the Pennsylvania-born John Antes (1740-1811).\n\nThis Music in the Museum of the Moravian Historical Society will feature the chamber music ensemble SATORI\, with Rebecca Brown\, violin; Elizabeth Mendoza\, cello; and Nora Suggs\, flute. Their repertoire will include compositions by John Antes as well as other 18th-century works.\n\nTickets are $10 for the general public and FREE for MHS members and students with ID. Seating in the museum is limited and advanced reservations are strongly recommended. Reservations can be made by visiting www.moravianhistory.org.\n\nAbout the Artists:\nSATORI is a classical chamber music ensemble\, based in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley\, and playing both traditional and contemporary chamber music. The group is currently in its 27th season\, with a repertoire ranging from baroque to 21st century selections. SATORI’s name is taken from a Zen term suggesting the coming together of separate parts to form a whole—a perfect metaphor for chamber Music.\n\nRebecca Brown is a graduate of Drake University\, with a Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. She teaches and performs regularly with the Bach Festival Orchestra and the Allentown Symphony. Elizabeth Mendoza received her Bachelor of Music degree from Peabody Conservatory and her Master of Music degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory. She currently plays with Philadelphia’s Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra and the Chanticleer String Quartet\, and serves as principal cellist with the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra\, and the New Jersey Bay-Atlantic Symphony. Nora Suggs is a graduate of Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine\, and is the Artistic Director of SATORI. She has taught on the music faculty at Bethlehem’s Moravian College and at the Community Music School of the Lehigh Valley\, and currently teaches privately.\n\nThis program is supported\, in part\, by the County of Northampton Hotel Tax Grant Program.\n\nPlease note: The museum is on the second floor which is accessible only by stairs.\n\nAbout the Moravian Historical Society:\nThe Moravian Historical Society was founded in 1857 to preserve\, interpret\, and celebrate the rich culture of the Moravians. Its Museum is open to the public seven days a week from 1-4 p.m.\n\nFor more information\, visit us at www.moravianhistory.org\, call 610-759-5070\, or email events@moravianhistory.org.\n\nFollow us on social media:\nFacebook: moravianhistoricalsociety\nInstagram: moravianhistory\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDownload the Press Release\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Moravian Historical Society is a proud member of:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwww.moravianhistory.org\ninfo@moravianhistory.org 610.759.5070\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n ‌  ‌  ‌  ‌  ‌
