SUMMARY:"Darwin vs Design" Saturday\, April 18th From 3 to 5 PM at Living Stone Fellowship 6925 Flint Hill Road New Tripoli\, PA 18066
DESCRIPTION:Hi Lehigh Valley Pastors and Ministry Leaders\, \nShare the Power in partnership with Living Stone Fellowship is pleased to invite you and your people to a special afternoon seminar on the scientific proofs for design as apposed to evolution entitled Darwin vs. Design an afternoon with Dr. Michael Behe. It will be held on Saturday April 18\, 2026 from 3 to 5PM at:\n Living Stone Fellowship\n6925 Flint Hill Road\nNew Tripoli\, PA 18066 \n\nThroughout history\, most people\, including most scientists\, thought that the intricate mechanisms of life were purposefully designed. The design hypothesis fell out of favor in academia after 1859\, the year Charles Darwin instead proposed that life evolved by utterly unguided random variation sifted by natural selection. In the past 75 years\, however\, much has been learned about the molecular basis of life that was completely unknown in Darwin’s era. Dr. Behe will argue that the astonishing discoveries of modern biochemistry require a reversal of our evaluation of Darwin versus design: the conclusion that\, in large part\, life was purposely designed has once again become rationally compelling.\n\nAbout the Speaker:\n\nMichael Behe (born 1952 in Altoona\, Pennsylvania) is a biochemist and an influential intelligent-design theorist. A Professor of Biochemistry at Lehigh University in Bethlehem\, Pennsylvania and a Senior Fellow at the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture\, he received his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978. His dissertation was on aspects of sickle-cell disease\, and his postdoctoral work on DNA was conducted at the National Institute of Health. With research interests involving the delineation of design and natural selection in protein structures\, he wrote what has been arguably the single most effective book so far in bringing the question of Darwin versus Design to public attention\, Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge of Evolution (Free Press\, 1996). The magazines National Review and World both selected it as one of the 100 most important books of the 20th century.\n\n\nThere is a flyer attached to this email.\n\nWe look forward to seeing you there!\n\n\nGod Bless you\,\n\nMarkus Huyssen\nSTP Executive Director

SUMMARY:Quilting Workshop at the Daniel Boone Homestead Sunday\, April 26\, 2026 ● 1:00-3:00pm
DESCRIPTION:Quilting Workshop\nat the Daniel Boone Homestead\nSunday\, April 26\, 2026 ● 1:00-3:00pm \nHave you always wanted to try quilting? Well now’s your chance! Join the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates for a quilt making workshop led by The Hopewell Quilters. Quilts were important in keeping us warm during the winter months. Did you know that colonial quilts were made from one piece of fabric for the top and one for the bottom with batting in the middle? These types of quilts are known as whole cloth quilts. As the years went on the designs became more elaborate on quilts. In the late 1700s and early 1800s\ngirls were supposed to have 13 quilts completed before they were married. Quilting bees were a way for the community to come together and help make quilts.\nDuring the workshop on April 26 th \, participants will make a potholder. The cost for the workshop is $20 for Daniel Boone Homestead Associate members and $25 for non-members. Fabric and supplies will be provided. The workshop is open to participants aged 16-adult and all skill levels are welcome. Space is limited to 15 participants. For more information or to register please contact us by email at: thedanielboonehomestead@gmail.com or call 610-582-4900. Please register by April 16\, 2026. The workshop will be held in the DeTurk Education Center at the Daniel Boone Homestead. The Daniel Boone Homestead is the birthplace of the famed frontiersman\, born in 1734. The Boone House\, constructed in three stages throughout the eighteenth century\, is a 10-room stone structure fully furnished to the period and situated on 579 acres of rolling countryside. The Daniel Boone Homestead is located halfway between Reading and Pottstown\, one mile north of Rt. 422 near Baumstown. The Homestead is owned by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC)\, and daily\nhistoric operations are run by the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates\, a local\, nonprofit organization.
