DESCRIPTION:Picnic Aims to Help Dads Reconnect with Their Children \n(ALLENTOWN\, PA) – The Allentown Rescue Mission will host its third annual “Date with Dad” cookout on June 21\, 2026\, for men residing at the Mission and their families. Men experiencing homelessness are often separated from their families and overlooked as fathers. The Mission’s annual Father’s Day picnic aims to foster reconciliation between its guests and their children. Felix\, a current guest at the Allentown Rescue Mission and employee of the Clean Team Workforce\, has been preparing himself for the day he can reunite with his son. Felix came to the Allentown Rescue Mission seeking a positive environment after personal struggles with addiction and incarceration. Today\, he is firmly rooted in his Christian faith and is determined to change his life for the better. “My\ngoal is to be with my son again. I’ve taken online parenting and GED classes and have been working on myself so I can be a good dad. My son is my motivation\,” Felix explained. According to recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau\, one in four American children lives in a fatherless household. This living arrangement often brings severe social consequences and trauma for children separated from their parents. Serving nearly 1\,000 men each year\, the Allentown Rescue Mission works to rescue\, rehabilitate\, and restore dads\, like Felix\, to their families every day. The Mission’s Transformation Program\, an eight-week Christ-centered program\, explores topics such as fatherhood responsibilities and second chances with family. The staff emphasizes the importance of family relationships and the positive impact of having a father present in the home\, intending to build stronger dads\, families\, and communities.

The Arts & Crafts Festival is open to the public with free admission. \nHeld on the historic lawn of the Moravian Historical Society in downtown Nazareth\, the Arts & Crafts Festival is one of the Lehigh Valley’s longest-running outdoor arts and crafts festivals. This family-friendly day features over 100 vendors\, live music throughout the day\, and activities for kids. Food trucks will be selling a variety of beverages and sweet and savory treats. \nLocal artisans will offer a wide variety\, including original artwork\, woodworking\, jewelry\, handmade soaps\, candles\, fiber arts\, and more. DESCRIPTION:1776 Tannenberg Organ Celebrates 250 Years with a Concert by Organist Philip Cooper on Sunday\, May 17 at 3:00 p.m. \n \nNazareth\, PA—The Moravian Historical Society invites audiences to experience the sounds of 1776 during this special concert on the Moravian Historical Society’s 1776 Tannenberg Organ. Celebrating its 250th birthday along with the country\, the organ will be brought to life by organist and organ historian Philip Cooper. Cooper has studied and documented the old Pennsylvania-German organs and has performed on many important historic organs. \nAndy McLeod\, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions\, will introduce the program with a brief history of David Tannenberg’s experiences during the Revolutionary War. \nDavid Tannenberg is widely recognized as the most important organ builder in eighteenth-century America. The Moravian Historical Society’s 1776 organ is one of only nine of his remaining organs. It was played for George Washington in 1782 when the organ was in the Single Brethren’s House in Bethlehem. \nThe concert will take place in the museum of the Moravian Historical Society on Sunday\, May 17\, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Seating is limited\, and reservations are recommended. Tickets are $15\, $10 for MHS members\, and $5 for students and can be purchased by visiting www.moravianhistory.org. \nFounded in 1857\, the Moravian Historical Society (MHS) preserves\, interprets\, and celebrates the rich culture of the Moravians. MHS maintains the 1740–1743 Whitefield House and the 1740 Gray Cottage\, the oldest surviving Moravian structure in North America. DESCRIPTION:Quilting Workshop\nat the Daniel Boone Homestead\nSunday\, April 26\, 2026 ● 1:00-3:00pm \nHave you always wanted to try quilting? Well now’s your chance! Join the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates for a quilt making workshop led by The Hopewell Quilters. Quilts were important in keeping us warm during the winter months. Did you know that colonial quilts were made from one piece of fabric for the top and one for the bottom with batting in the middle? These types of quilts are known as whole cloth quilts. As the years went on the designs became more elaborate on quilts. In the late 1700s and early 1800s\ngirls were supposed to have 13 quilts completed before they were married. Quilting bees were a way for the community to come together and help make quilts.\nDuring the workshop on April 26 th \, participants will make a potholder. The cost for the workshop is $20 for Daniel Boone Homestead Associate members and $25 for non-members. Fabric and supplies will be provided. The workshop is open to participants aged 16-adult and all skill levels are welcome. Space is limited to 15 participants. The workshop will be held in the DeTurk Education Center at the Daniel Boone Homestead.The Daniel Boone Homestead is the birthplace of the famed frontiersman\, born in 1734. The Boone House\, constructed in three stages throughout the eighteenth century\, is a 10-room stone structure fully furnished to the period and situated on 579 acres of rolling countryside. The Daniel Boone Homestead is located halfway between Reading and Pottstown\, one mile north of Rt. 422 near Baumstown. The Homestead is owned by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC)\, and daily\nhistoric operations are run by the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates\, a local\, nonprofit organization.
