DESCRIPTION:Nazareth\, PA\, October 1\, 2026—Nazareth\, PA—The Moravian Historical Society is pleased to announce its 169th Annual Meeting\, Lecture\, & Reception will take place on Thursday\, November 12\, 2026\, at the Haupert Union Building (HUB)\, on the campus of Moravian University in Bethlehem\, Pennsylvania. The lecture will serve as the keynote address for the Institute for Moravian History and World Heritage’s Inaugural Conference. \nThe 169th annual lecture will be presented by Dr Simon Woodward\, who has spent nearly 40 years working in the field of cultural and heritage tourism with a particular interest in World Heritage issues. Properties inscribed on the World Heritage List\, such as the Moravian Church Settlements in Bethlehem\, are celebrated by UNESCO because of their ‘Outstanding Universal Value.’ Drawing on examples from around the globe\, this presentation will explore strategies that world heritage managers and their partners can adopt to entertain and enrich the experiences of visitors of all ages\, backgrounds\, and interests. ​ \nThe Annual Meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the lecture at 7:00 p.m. A reception will follow the lecture. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested by visiting www.moravianhistory.org/annual-meeting or by calling 610-759-5070. \nSimon has a particular interest in developing responsible tourism experiences that celebrate the culture and heritage of a destination and that deliver real benefits to host communities. For instance\, he is currently advising the World Bank on a strategy to support craft and creative industry workers based in Lamu Old Town World Heritage Site\, Kenya. He is also working for the World Bank on a major new visitor management plan for the Kunta Kinteh Island and Related Sites World Heritage property in the Gambia. His 2022 academic text book entitled World Heritage: Concepts\, Management and Conservation\, co-authored with the archaeologist Dr Louise Cooke\, is one of the core texts for all those keen to understand both the benefits and the challenges that World Heritage status can bring to a destination. \nThe 169th annual lecture is supported\, in part\, with funding from the Hotel Tax Grant Program through the County of Northampton Department of Community & Economic Development. \nThe Moravian Historical Society is open daily from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and is located at 214 East Center Street\, Nazareth\, Pennsylvania. The historic site includes two 18th-century buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. DESCRIPTION:Holiday Drive to Fill Plates and Hearts \n(ALLENTOWN\, PA) – The Allentown Rescue Mission announces its 26th annual Thanks for Giving Food & Supplies Drive\, Saturday\, November 14th\, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event collects non-perishable food and cleaning supplies to support the nearly 1\,000 men experiencing homelessness at the Mission each year. The Mission relies on the fundraiser to feed guests over the holidays and to restock its pantry shelves for the upcoming year.\nThe Allentown Rescue Mission will partner with Josh Early Candies for this one-day\, drive-thru drop-off event. Donations can be made at Josh Early Candies in both Allentown and Bethlehem. Boxing legend and Lehigh Valley native Larry Holmes will be on-site at Josh Early Candies Allentown from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.\, along with iHeartRadio personality Mike Mittman\, who will broadcast from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Both men will be available for photos with donors. Cumulus Radio personalities will be on-site at Josh Early Candies’ Bethlehem location. Additionally\, the Mission will host a Meal Match Challenge as part of its Food & Supplies Drive to raise funds for nutritious\, perishable foods\, including fruits\, vegetables\, and dairy products.
