An elaborate miniature display that tells the Christmas story\, the putz is a Moravian tradition that reaches back into the eighteenth century. \n  \nThe Morris family putz began in the 1850s\, and continued in the family home in Bethlehem\, Pennsylvania until 1994\, when it was donated to the Moravian Historical Society. Originally\, the putz occupied most of the Morris dining room and was lit with beeswax candles. The collection includes hand-carved figurines from Germany that date to the mid-1800s. The unique feature of the Morris family putz is the inclusion of wild animals\, including giraffes\, bears\, wolves\, and lions into the Christmas story. The display will take place in the 1740 Gray Cottage from November 30 through January 5. \nFree tours offered daily at 1:45\, 2:45\, and 3:45 pm \n  \nNovember 30\, 10:00 am–4:00 pm \nDecember 1\, 1:00 – 4:00 pm \nSmall Business Saturday & Museum Store Sunday \nShop locally this holiday season!
