Oct. 21-26, 2021
Sessions about legal challenges, student motivation, Biblical racial reconciliation,
teaching in the Spirit, and renewal for educators headline the Rise Up Summit.
October 13, 2021: Pastor, author, and missionary Francis Chan, as well as author and pastor Alistair Begg are coming to encourage Christian educators at the 3rd annual Rise Up Summit from October 21-26. Chan will kick off the opening live session, speaking to Christian educators in our K-12 schools about finding renewal in the Lord after months of challenging times.
The Rise Up Summit is a free online conference for Christian educators in both public and private schools.
“After a year and a half of pushing through ‘pandemic schooling,’ our heroic Christian educators need encouragement and renewal. We have prayerfully built the Rise Up Summit to both meet them where they are, but also challenge them to greater levels of faith to be Christ’s ambassadors in their schools,” explained David Schmus, Executive Director of Christian Educators Association International (CEAI). CEAI (ceai.org) has been supporting Christian educators since 1953 and is the only national professional association for Christian educators in public, charter, and private schools.
The Rise Up Summit is hosted by CEAI and partnering ministry Teach 4 the Heart, which provides Christian teachers with practical advice and Biblical encouragement through their podcast, blog, courses, and more.
“Teachers are struggling right now and they could really use some encouragement,” added Linda Kardamis, founder of Teach 4 the Heart (teach4theheart.com). “We are thrilled to offer this free summit to give teachers fresh ideas, inspiration, and renewal.”
The Rise Up Summit may be even more necessary this year. A RAND survey during the pandemic pointed out that teachers are “almost twice as likely to experience frequent job-related stress as the general employed adult population and almost three times as likely to experience depressive symptoms as the general adult population.”
“The pandemic, racial tension, and cultural upheaval have disproportionately impacted our schools. As a result, many Christian educators are unsure, afraid, and exhausted. They are dealing with everything from increasing COVID-related mandates, to radical new racial and gender ideologies, to the increased effects of trauma in their students. They need encouragement and new tools to survive and thrive,” continued Schmus.
Teach 4 the Heart and Christian Educators Association International served 8,500 educators at the Rise Up Summit last year and have put together a new slate of over 30 powerful sessions to meet this year’s unique needs.
Participants will be able to choose from eight unique live sessions on Friday night and all-day Saturday, October 22-23. In addition to the Friday night session with Francis Chan, the live portion welcomes noted Christian apologist Greg Koukl, and includes sessions on classroom management, processing grief, and student motivation. Live Zoom rooms will allow educators to get ideas from others, respond to sessions in community, and receive personal prayer.
In addition, Rise Up features over 20 additional on-demand sessions that will be available for free from October 21-26. These sessions address issues like Biblical racial reconciliation with guest Monique Duson of the Center for Biblical Unity; a discussion about courageous faith from renowned Bible teacher Alistair Begg; overcoming anxiety; gender confusion and identity in our students; and a conversation with attorneys from Alliance Defending Freedom and Liberty Counsel about legal issues facing Christian teachers.
